taulman3D has now released its low temperature, high strength industrial ?t-glase? filament line into the desktop 3D printing community. taulman t-glase filament, which is short for tough glass, is a specially engineered high strength industrial 3D printer filament for users that print with PLA or lower temperature desktop 3D Printers.
taulman t-glase filament is derived from the strongest PETT polymer combination available in the market. As taulman t-glase filament is part of the taulman3D family you can be sure that t-glase is a strong material! Where taulman?s 618 and 645 nylons are quite bendable, taulman t-glase filament is however a fairly stiff material. When it comes to stiffness/bendability t-glase is more comparable to ABS and PLA, rather than to Taulman?s 618 and 645 nylon filaments. taulman t-glase filament comes in 5 colors. When summarizing above features the conclusion is that taulman t-glase filament is a very clear and tough material and also quite light.
Like PLA filament,taulman t-glase filament is printed at lower temperatures. The optimal printing temperature for printing with taulman t-glase filament is about 212?C to 224?C. However it will print down to 207?C and up to about 235?C. taulman t-glase filament prints easily to acrylic, glass, Kapton and other platforms. It has excellent bridging features and has very little to zero warpage, which makes it an excellent material for printing large objects. Also nice to know, t-glase prints without any odors or fumes.

The main features of taulman t-glase filament
Temperature – Optimum temperature is about 212c to 224C, but will print down to 207C and up to about 235C.
NOTE: A feature of taulman t-glase filament was to select a polymer that easily sticks to heated acrylic and glass print tables for the smoothest bottom surface possible. While t-glase meets this requirement, it results in a low glass transition temperature. The effects of a low TG is that parts printed in t-glase, should not be exposed to high temperature use or applications. The measured TG of t-glase is 78C.

Environmental – While taulman t-glase filament is not biodegradable like PLA, it is a material that?s considered 100% reclaimable. Thus the new ?struders? that convert failed prints back to usable line work perfectly with t-glase. If you have a ?struder?, you can actually mix in 12% of the total weight in discarded clear water bottles. Please keep in mind, that the polymer used in most water bottles, has a slightly higher melt temp and that adding them to the mix, may increase print temp a few degrees.
Clarity ? taulman t-glase filament is considered colorless per industrial classifications. t-glase is considered ?water clear? as it will not degrade to a color in multiple layers of applied thickness. t-glase?s clarity supports industry?s requirements for non-destructive evaluation of 3D Printed parts.
Shrinkage – Very low shrinkage makes printing large flat surfaces a breeze. And it easily prints to acrylic, glass, Kapton and other platforms.
Bridging – Those of us that have printed with acrylics and poly carbonates are always envious of their bridging capabilities due to glass temperature. And the new taulman t-glase filament is very impressive at bridging.
Fumes – Unlike some lines, there are no odors or fumes when 3D Printing with taulman t-glase filament.
500 grams taulman t-glase PETT CoPolymer RED 1.75mm t-glase (called TEE-GLASS) is an ?optically correct? or water clear polymer that comes in Clear, Red, Green, Blue, White, Black and Aqua. Red, Green, Blue and Aqua are translucent rather than opaque. t-glase is a food and beverage safe polymer and carries the recycle rating of “1”. t-glase is one of the lowest shrinkage of the polyesters. With optical coatings, t-glase can appear as clear as a glass part. t-glase prints at 235-245C. One can easily print light guides or light pipes.
